Importing a roster

The roster import brings an existing membership list into your organization at once, from a spreadsheet. It is for the moment you already have the list and want the whole of it to become real here, without re-entering it one name at a time.

You upload a CSV with four columns, the email, the name, the group each person belongs to, and whether they are a member or a leader. The group has to already exist in your organization, and Threshold matches it by name. Before anything is written, you see a preview. It tells you who would be added, who is already in their group, who has opted out and will be skipped, which rows repeat inside the file, and which rows have a problem worth fixing. You read that first, and you attest that you have the standing to add these people on behalf of your organization, and only then does the import run.

Importing records people. It does not email them. Adding someone to the roster and inviting them into the app are two separate acts, and Threshold keeps them apart on purpose. A person comes to know they belong when you choose to reach out, not because a file was uploaded. If the preview recognizes an address that has hard-bounced before, it marks that plainly so you know not to rely on that address. The person can still be added to the roster without Threshold trying to contact them.

An import runs up to a hundred people at a time, so a longer list simply comes in as a few smaller ones. Each run leaves a reference you can keep for your records. The point is not speed. It is that a list becomes a roster carefully, with your own eyes on it before it lands.
